Development of a pocket-sized Point-of-Care (POC) device for portable use

The project had been led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Miwako Ozaki. Following the development of a palm-sized, box-shaped nucleic acid detectors, Dr. Ozaki’s team is currently working on the development of a solid-state next-generation quantum sequencer aimed at further miniaturizing the device to the size of a credit card. This technology measures differences in nucleic acid bases by detecting the movement of electrons. The method for detection to manipulate electrons can be used not only to the diagnosis and triage of infectious diseases and other conditions, but also to neuro-modulation in the future.
