Development of a pocket-sized Point-of-Care (POC) device for portable use

The project had been led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Miwako Ozaki. Following the development of a palm-sized, box-shaped nucleic acid detectors and film devices, Dr. Ozaki’s team is currently working on the development of a solid-state next-generation quantum sequencer aimed at further miniaturizing the device to the size of a credit card. This method detects and measures differences in nucleobases based on variations in electric charge, electron transport, and its wave characteristics. The electronically controlled detection technology can be utilized not only for the diagnosis and triage of infectious diseases and other conditions but also holds the potential for future application in the field of neuromodulation and monitoring for mental disorders.
